Arrive in Vancouver by ferry or plane and transfer to the hotel on your own.

Friday, August 2, 2019 – Vancouver to Kamloops

Pick up times for transfer to train station posted at hotel

Check-in: 06:40 to 07:15 a.m.

Boarding: 07:30 a.m.

 

Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. Gourmet 5* breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be served onboard.

On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the BC Interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River.

Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake into Kamloops.

Our expected arrival time in Kamloops will be between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.

Overnight in Kamloops. Please note that all accommodation in Kamloops is of moderate standard. 


Saturday, August 3, 2019 – Kamloops to Jasper
Onboard the Rocky Mountaineer - GoldLeaf Service

Pick up times for transfer to train station posted at hotel

Your journey continues north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Gourmet 5* breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be served onboard.

Once again you will be surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains, climbing ever nearer to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Your rail journey ends this evening on arrival in the resort town of Jasper.

Our expected arrival time in Jasper will be between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, August 4, 2019 – Jasper Sightseeing via bus

Breakfast at leisure at hotel (included). 

Jasper National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Canadian Rockies’ largest national park. Today you will enjoy a scenic half-day tour of some of the park’s natural attractions and rugged peaks, including Pyramid and Patricia Lakes, Maligne Canyon and Athabasca viewpoint, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the wildlife that calls this region home. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore more of Jasper independently. Overnight in Jasper.

Monday, August 5, 2019 – Jasper to Banff Sightseeing via bus

Breakfast at hotel (included).  

Travel to Banff via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. A stop will be made at Athabasca Falls before arriving at the Columbia Icefield. You'll be touring the Athabasca Glacier in a giant six-wheel drive Ice Explorer vehicle while your guide explains the history of this ancient glacier and points out interesting geological features. Think of it like a "monster-truck meets glacier" adventure where you learn new things! 

Lunch at Altitude Buffet (included).

Admission to the Glacier Skywalk is included (step out on a cliff-edge walkway whwere giant glaciers perch above you and the spectacular Sunwapta Valley spreads out below.  The glacier Skywalk experience features waterfalls, wildlife, fossils and more on an exciting 1-kilometre walkway that leads to a platform where glass is all that separates you from a 918 foot drop.  The walk is presented in an interpretive storytelling format that will connect you to the natural world in a deep and meaningful way.

Tuesday, August 6, 2019 – Banff Highlight Tour via bus

Breakfast at your hotel (included). 

This morning, board your motorcoach for a sightseeing tour of Banff.  Highlights include the Hoodoos rock formation, Surprise Corner, and Tunnel Mountain Driver overlooking the splendor of the Bow River Valley.  A stop is made at the Sulphur Mountain to ride to the summit via gondola (included) for a breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks and valleys. 

Free time will be available to explore the town before transferring back to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Wednesday, August 7, 2019 – Return home


Breakfast at your hotel (included). 

Everyone will transfer from the hotel in Banff to Calgary Airport at the same time.  Your trip director will help coordinate flights.
